To have a happy and fulfilled LIFE, I strongly believe an important key is APPRECIATION. It seems we appreciate LIFE, the people around us and our current situations more after something tragic happens, such as the loss of a loved one or something out of our control happens or when something special happens, such as a birth of a child, a new job or even a new relationship.
Though in the day-to-day grind of life, appreciation sometimes and often gets lost, or misplaced, or overlooked along the way. We let life’s obstacles and routine take over and lead us away from what truly makes us happy; gives us purpose, peace and direction in our life.
If we make a conscious effort to decide what in our life to appreciate, we will be able to draw strength and direction from it, because that is what we “value” in our life; it’s what makes our life unique, special and most importantly fulfilled.
Appreciation has the power to enhance our experiences and our relationships, it has the power transcend into our interactions with people and our actions in life. It has the power to make our relationships stronger and more real. It’s a human need to feel special, important, thought of, cared for and loved. By actively showing your appreciation in your actions and interactions with others, you let them know that they are important, special and yes appreciated. This is a powerful “gift” you will be giving them and yourself; it will empower them and you both consciously and unconsciously and will be reciprocated by others.
At that same time, not receiving appreciation in our life can be felt just as strongly, and lead us way from what we really desire. Whether in a job, a friendship or a current relationship, if we’re not appreciated we are not at our full life potential. We have to ask ourselves: Why am I here in this situation? Am I here for security or because it’s comfortable? Or am I here out of fear?
What it all comes down to, is appreciating oneself, our values and what type of life we want to live.
